Shirlee Ann Raught
The soul of Shirlee Ann Raught left her earthly body on July 9th, 2026. Born on October 5, 1935, in Madison, Wisconsin, she was the only child of Roy and Bernice Dugan. Her early years were spent working in her family’s Madison-area restaurant. After graduating from Central High School, she attended M.A.T.C and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She practiced nursing both in the Madison area, and later in the Portage area as well as becoming a Nursing Home Administrator in the 1980s with facilities in Princeton and Port Washington and a Manager for the Columbia County Commission on Aging. Shirlee loved new challenges and enjoyed expanding her professional skills in areas such as floral design, auto sales, insurance sales, real estate and private enterprise in the bar and restaurant business. Ultimately, she returned to her first calling, nursing, in the concluding stage of her professional career.
Shirlee’s retirement brought new opportunities and a labor of love as she enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Building innumerable memories with them brought her tremendous joy! Sharing time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, was the essence of her life. She also enjoyed many hobbies over the years including painting, wood carving, leather tooling, crocheting, and stained-glass work. Shirlee always felt blessed to have a good life and gratefully enjoyed all the family and friends around her. She felt very loved and will be missed by all.
Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents and son Scott McDougall.
