Jean Mildred Smith

PORTAGE – Jean Mildred Smith, age 90, of Portage, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. She was born on October 14, 1935, to Willard R. and Mildred I. (Patchin) Smith.

She is survived by her sister, Karen (Ernest “Joe”) Morgan, and their children: Jonathan (Mardell) and their son, Emerson; Mark (Amber Peterson); and Emily (Jason) Lyle and their children, Nathan, Daphne, and Dane. She is further survived by her sister Barbara (William) Warnke, and their children: Kara (Richard) Kuehn, and daughters, Katherine and Courtney; and Elizabeth (William) Krentz, and their children, William, Chelsea, and Quintin. She is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, dear friends, especially Sue and Irma.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and infant nephews, Bryan Kuehn and Bennett Lyle.

Honoring Jean’s request, a private service and burial will occur. Any memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, of Portage, or Columbia County Humane Society.
