Jon Scott Wake

PORTAGE – Jon Scott Wake, age 62, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin.

Jon was born on January 4, 1964, in Stoughton, the son of David and Melinda (Olson) Wake. He loved snowmobiling, golfing and watching the Green Bay Packers. Jon was known as Waker, Big Jon Silver, or “BDB”. Jon enjoyed boating, playing hockey, bicycling and all things mechanical. He was a grillmaster who also enjoyed good beer, especially IPAs. Jon had a gentle spirit and was a natural caregiver. He was a self-proclaimed best driver, claiming to have never received a speeding ticket. Jon loved teasing his family and friends, and there were always dad jokes to be had.

Jon is survived by his sons, Evan Jon Wake and Ander John Wake; his dad, David Charles (Leona) Wake; the love of his life and life partner of 16 years, Kimberly “Sheila” Ann Marie Dressler (nee Halasz); his bonus children, Kyle Christopher Dressler and Taylor Marie Dressler; his bonus grandchild, Caleb Reed Dressler; his sister, Leslie Sharon (Gary) LaChance; his nephews, Thomas David (Kenzie) Walsh, Connor Martin Walsh, Liam Jon (Averi) Walsh and Jayden LaChance; his step-siblings, Kami Harmon, Eric Gobeli and Jodi (Terry) Messex; also survived by many cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melinda and his brother-in-law, Clark Harmon.

Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Chaplain Nancy Davis officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be private.
